About Slack <> VWO Integration

Slack is an internal communication tool that helps teams collaborate. By integrating VWO with Slack, you can receive notifications about important events in your VWO account, such as campaign status changes, user additions, deletions, and changes in user roles. You can also configure the notifications to be received in the Slack channels that you prefer.

Integrating Slack with your VWO account basically involves two steps:

Step 1: Enabling and Authorizing Slack Integration

If you have an active Slack Workspace, you can perform the following steps to integrate Slack with your VWO account:

1. Log in to your VWO account.
   
   
2. From the left panel of your VWO dashboard, go to Configurations > Integrations page, which provides integrations to be enabled at the account level.
   
   
3. Click on the Slack integration tile and click Enable Now to enable it.
   
   
4. Now, click the Connect Slack button.
   
5. A popup will appear where you can set up a channel for VWO to post notifications. From the Channel dropdown, select a Slack channel where you want to receive notifications about your campaign activities and click Allow.
   
   NOTE: If you are not able to view this screen, reach out to your Slack administrator for help.
6. You can the VWO bot to more preferred channels, by typing in @vwo in the message box.

INFO: You can configure the notifications for these Slack channels via Notification Settings.

Step 2: Configuring Slack to Notify VWO Account/Campaign Events

After establishing the connection, you will be taken to the Config tab of the Slack integration page. Here you can see the list of all the channels where the VWO bot is enabled. 

You can send a test notification to each of the channels using the Send test notifications option, as shown below:

After adding VWO to your preferred channels, you can then configure notification preferences for each channel. Click on the Notifications link, below the list of channels. You’ll be taken to the Notification Preferences tab under Settings > Accounts. 

Under the Notification Preferences section, turn on the notifications for the account/campaign events that you require.

The VWO bot can notify your Slack channels of the following campaign events:

Notification Type	Description
Campaign status change	Notifies when campaign status is changed to Running/Paused/Archive/Trash/Delete
New user addition	Notifies when a new user is added to the account
User deletion	Notifies when a user is deleted from the account
User role change	Notifies when a user role is changed to Admin/Publish/Design/Browse
Campaign winner found	Notifies when a winner is declared for a campaign

Click + Add Recipient within each required event to add the appropriate Slack channels.

NOTE: To return to the Config tab and add or remove Slack channels, click Configure under the Recipient Configuration section.

Removing the VWO Bot From a Channel

To remove the VWO bot from a channel, perform the following steps:

1. Remove the Slack channel from the Notification Preferences section in your VWO account.
   
   
2. Access the VWO bot under the Apps section on your Slack workspace.
   
   
3. Go to About > Configuration > Your authorization and click on the Revoke button along the channels from which you want to remove the VWO bot.
