Overview
An idea is an insight, whereas a test campaign is where the impact happens. After you have discovered a potential improvement for your website pages or goals using VWO’s AI-Generated Ideas, you must move on to actually measuring its effect on your conversion rates and business goals.
This is where VWO's AI-Generated Ideas feature closes the loop. Once you have decided which idea you want to test, you can seamlessly convert it into an A/B test campaign with just a few clicks. This seamless bridge from initial concept to a running campaign streamlines the campaign creation process.
Some of the key benefits of this workflow include:
- Go from insight to impact - This workflow bridges discovery and measurable results.
- Accelerate your testing velocity - The one-click setup via Copilot cuts setup time from hours to seconds, enabling faster testing and continuous optimization.
Use VWO Copilot's One-Click Campaign Creation Setup
This automated workflow uses AI to instantly build a complete A/B test campaign based on the AI-generated idea, including the variation, goals, and audience settings. This path is designed for speed and efficiency.
Suppose your goal is to increase visitors’ engagement with the new Bestsellers section on your e-commerce website’s homepage. One of the ideas that VWO Copilot suggests is to add an Animated ‘Hot Right Now’ Badge on Button, which will capture attention and drive clicks. In this case, you can use the One-Click Setup via Copilot option, confirm the settings, and have a test campaign ready to launch within minutes.
To create a test campaign using the one-click setup option:
- From the left panel on the VWO dashboard, click Ideas.
- On the Ideas dashboard, expand the idea you want to use.
- Click One-Click Setup via Copilot.
-
The Review One-click Setup pop-up appears, summarizing the campaign that VWO’s AI will create. To modify any part of the configuration, click Edit Configuration. For example, you can add more pages or refine the audience. You can also use natural language to update the changes, target pages, audience, or goals. For example, increase the size of the Hot Right Now! CTA.
Tip: The Review One-click Setup modal is more than just a summary. It's an editable command center. Before clicking Continue with Copilot, use the Edit Configuration option to refine your campaign based on your requirements.
If you want to discard the changes and return to the original configuration suggested by Copilot, click Reset.
-
Once your review is complete, click Continue with Copilot. The following progress modal appears on the Ideas page.
Note: The above progress modal remains open until you close it. It auto-closes once you accept and save the changes in the editor. Closing this modal before completion stops and cancels the automated campaign creation.Simultaneously, the VWO Editor opens in a new browser tab. A progress modal shows VWO Copilot setting up the campaign, configuring pages, identifying metrics, and generating variations.
Note: The campaign setup involves multiple automated steps. A failure in one step (for example, generating a variation) can halt the process. In this case, a red cross icon appears next to the failed step in the progress pop-up, and a partially created campaign may exist in VWO. To continue, close the progress modal and go to the VWO Editor to complete the setup manually.
Once all the steps in the setup are complete, VWO implements the changes in the VWO Editor and generates the variation for the idea. Review the suggestions and update the configuration if needed.
Click the pencil icon on the task bar at the bottom of the page to edit the changes. See our VWO Editor Help for more information on optimally using the editor’s capabilities.
Once your review is complete, click Accept all & Save to save the changes. The editor tab closes automatically and you are auto-navigated to the previous tab. Simultaneously, the progress pop-up in the previous tab closes, and you are redirected to the newly created A/B test campaign’s summary page, which is ready for final review and launch.
VWO recommends always reviewing before launching. Even when using the automated one-click setup, take a moment to review the final campaign summary. Ensure the target pages, audience segmentation, and goals are exactly what you intended. For more information on how to run a successful A/B test campaign and use the insights to improve your website's conversion rate, see our VWO Testing Help.
After the campaign is successfully created from an AI-generated idea, the idea is marked with a Copilot-assisted campaign linked label on the Ideas page. Expand the idea and click View campaign details to open the campaign in a new browser tab.
Note: Suppose you initiate the one-click setup but don’t finish the process by saving the changes in the editor. When you return to the Ideas page, the idea card will display a Resume with Editor Copilot button. Clicking this button will reopen the VWO Editor with the partially configured campaign, allowing you to pick up right where you left off.Clicking View campaign details opens the campaign configuration summary in a new tab. Here, you can review all key details of your A/B test, including variations, traffic allocation, goals, and targeting. Once everything looks good, start the test.
Troubleshooting
Issue Cause Solution The One-Click Setup via Copilot failed on one of its steps. The one-click setup is a complex chain of automated actions. If the AI cannot confidently perform a step, it will stop to prevent errors. For example, if it cannot find a unique element on the page to modify, it may halt at the Analyzing Page step. The campaign is still partially created and saved. Close the progress modal. When you return to the Ideas page, you will see a Resume with Editor Copilot button on the idea card. Clicking this will open the VWO Editor, where you can manually complete the remaining steps of the campaign setup. Copilot created my campaign, but the variation in the VWO Editor doesn't look right. While the AI is highly accurate, complex page structures can sometimes lead to unintended visual changes. The campaign and variation are fully editable. Simply open the campaign from the A/B test dashboard or launch the variation in the VWO Editor and make any necessary manual adjustments to the campaign or variation.
FAQs
-
What is the difference between Add to VWO Hypotheses and One-Click Setup via Copilot?
Add to VWO Hypotheses creates a record of the idea in your hypothesis library for manual test creation later. One-Click Setup via Copilot automates the entire A/B test creation process, creating a ready-to-launch campaign.
-
Why is the One-Click Setup via Copilot button not enabled for every idea?
The one-click setup is available for ideas that involve straightforward, common changes (for example, changing text, tweaking a CTA). For more complex ideas that may require significant structural changes or custom code, VWO defaults to the manual Add to VWO Hypotheses flow to ensure you have full control over the implementation in the editor.
-
I clicked "One-Click Setup." Will my test go live immediately?
No. The one-click setup always creates the campaign in a draft state. It will then take you to the Configuration Summary page, where you have the final say. You must review all the settings and click Start Test yourself. You always remain in complete control of when a test goes live.
