Overview
This manual workflow lets you create a formal hypothesis from your idea and save it to your VWO library. You can then use this hypothesis to build a test campaign, giving you complete control over every detail.
For example, your goal is to increase the visitor engagement with the new Bestsellers section on your e-commerce website’s homepage. VWO’s AI generates the following A/B testing ideas for your goal:
Suppose you like Copilot’s idea to Add Dynamic Real-Time Purchase Count or Testimonial Snippet and want to incorporate social proof. To implement it, you must first build a highly custom variation that involves rearranging sections and adding custom-coded widgets, which is beyond a simple one-click change. In this case, you can add the idea to VWO Hypotheses and save it, which you can use later to build your A/B test manually in the VWO Editor.
Some of the key benefits of this workflow include:
- Capture every idea - No more lost insights in chats or docs! Convert ideas into hypotheses to track and prioritize them.
- Maintain a structured training program - The VWO Hypotheses library maintains a record of all tested ideas, their outcomes, and effectiveness. Leverage it to get valuable insights for strategic planning and team alignment.
This article further explains how you can save ideas in VWO Hypotheses.
Add Ideas to VWO Hypotheses
- On the VWO dashboard, from the main navigation menu on the left, click Plan > Ideas.
- On the Ideas dashboard, expand the idea you want to use.
- Click Add to VWO hypothesis.
The Create Hypothesis form appears and is pre-filled with the details from the AI-generated idea. For further information on updating this form's configuration, see Creating a Hypothesis in VWO.
-
Review the details and click Create.
Your idea is now saved as a formal hypothesis within VWO's central repository under Plan > Hypotheses.
Once the idea is successfully added to VWO Hypotheses, it is marked with the Added to Hypothesis label on the Ideas page.
Note: If you have added an idea to VWO Hypotheses, deleting it from here will not remove it from Hypotheses.
You can now create a new A/B test from the new hypothesis or link it to an existing test and track your goal. For more information, see Linking Hypothesis to a Test in VWO.
VWO recommends prioritizing low-hanging fruit for quick wins!
Not all AI-generated ideas have the same level of complexity. Scan your list for simple but high-impact changes, such as tweaking a headline, changing the text on a button, or rephrasing a value proposition. Use the One-Click Setup via Copilot for these ideas to build momentum and get your first tests running quickly.
FAQs
-
Can I add the same idea to multiple hypotheses?
No. You can link an idea with only one hypothesis.
-
Can I remove or unlink an idea from a hypothesis later?
You cannot remove or unlink an idea from a hypothesis. Instead, you can delete a hypothesis, which will also delete its associated idea from VWO Hypotheses. However, if the idea was generated using VWO Ideas, it will remain available there even after the hypothesis is deleted.
-
Can I delete a hypothesis created from an idea without deleting the idea itself?
Yes. Deleting a hypothesis does not affect the original idea in your Ideas dashboard.
-
Can I edit the linked idea once it’s part of a hypothesis?
Yes, you can edit the original idea in the Ideas dashboard, but changes won’t automatically update in the hypothesis. You must manually update the hypothesis if needed.
