Interpreting a Mobile Session Recording
The mobile session recording of a visitor can help you map and analyze their journey on your mobile application. This can come in handy when you’re looking to identify their struggle areas, such as attempting to discover a CTA button or recognize the areas they frequent on your application. Using such data helps you to enhance your application to set your visitors on a seamless experience.
The mobile session recording player has two sections - the video play area and the control panel. The video play area displays the recording of the visitor’s sessions, while the control panel offers you the functions to control the playing of the video.
The video play area hosts the View Heatmap button that, when clicked, reveals the distribution of taps on the screen that is being featured. The colour of a spot represents the density of the taps on that region, varying from blue, green, yellow, and finally to red on the scale of low to high.
The control panel appears at the bottom of the screen and features the following elements:
- Video progress bar: Indicates the progress of the video. You can click on any point on this bar to play the video from there.
- Play / Pause / Repeat: To pause the playback or resume it if paused. Once the video is over, you can replay the session by clicking on the Repeat button.
- Adjust Playback Speed: Increase or decrease the speed of the playback - 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x or 4x.
- Screen Dropdown: Browse through the list of screens to navigate to a specific one and play the recording from there.
- Visitor Profile: The Visitor Profile panel appears alongside the video by default when a session recording is played. You can collapse this panel by clicking on the >> button at the top or the Visitor Profile icon in the control panel. The Visitor Profile panel displays the following:
- Visitor ID, device type, device OS and its version, and device location. You can click on the Share Profile button to share all the recordings of the visitor with someone in your organization.
